Dear Gibson family,
On July 30th, 2009
aprox. 6:30 pm
I went up to the grave site to find the stone
that marked Jean Gibson's final resting place.

As you can see the lawn is not well cared for....
there is however a source for water
just outside the chain-link fence as you enter the grounds.

This is the first picture of the marker,
in it's uncleaned state. . .
with no one to care for the stones they
get quite a bit of dirt in the engraved areas.
In the center of this picture is her stone at ground level.

This is the road that leads up to the cemetery.

The road is used by the funeral company
to transport the coffin to the grave site.

Just above the truck hood, in the background
is the chain-link gate
that serves as the entrance to the cemetery.

I did a little scrubbing on the stone with my hand at first.
That didn't do a whole lot to remove the dirt in the engraving.

The concrete that the stone is set into
looks to be in very good condition.

I got a snow brush and a fox-tail broom from out of the truck
and scrubbed the dirt out of the engravings.

I don't know why the stone looks discolored.
Maybe due to weather conditions it has been in.

Again the concrete appears to be in excellent shape.

You can see the tools I used to clean the stone and
the placement of the stone in among the other graves.

A few random shots looking west on the upper slope of the cemetery.
It is a beautiful location but rather difficult to get to.
More of the surrounding area, west-ward view.

Another shot of how the marker lays in the ground.

The usually locked gate, was open,
so, I drove the truck all the way
to the top and near the gate at the cemetery.
Glad I did, because I would not have been able to
hike back down the trail for the brushes to clean the stone.
The steps leading to the upper part of the cemetery.

Stone is in center of picture.

Hard to see, but the stone is behind the flowers.

Another view of the countryside.

This is the path that leads to the cemetery from the church below
it has the stations of the cross in pictures on crosses lining the path as you make your way up the hillside.
A nice shot of the path thru the brush.

The gate at the top of the hill, for cemetery entry.

Heading down the hillside toward the church parking lot.

Another downhill shot almost to the church parking lot.

The gate that is usually locked, was open.

What the church looks like today.
